The purpose of this invitation was to honor the memory of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi in Rwanda and to present Rwanda\u2019s journey toward resilience and reconciliation from 1994 to 2024.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2110 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rrgo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Michigan.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"940\" height=\"788\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rrgo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Michigan.jpg 940w, https:\/\/www.rrgo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Michigan-300x251.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rrgo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Michigan-768x644.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Remembering the 1994\u00a0 Genocide against Tutsi: Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2120\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2120\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2120 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rrgo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_5349.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rrgo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_5349.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.rrgo.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_5349-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2120\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Training about Poetry and laughter yoga practice<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>During his visit, Mr. Habimana gave a keynote presentation at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Library by Prof Paul Draus titled \u201cRemembering and Reconciliation: Rwanda&#8217;s Journey 30 Years After the Genocide.\u201d His address highlighted the progress Rwanda has made in healing from the trauma of the genocide, focusing on the resilience of the Rwandan people. These projects align with the University of Michigan\u2019s social justice mission, providing tools for resilience to those living in challenging conditions, including prisoners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Lasting Partnership: Expanding Global Healing Efforts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This partnership between RRGO and the University of Michigan has laid the foundation for future collaborations. Both organizations are committed to working together on several initiatives, including expanding green spaces and promoting healing practices such as Laughter Yoga in Rwanda and Detroit. These projects aim to foster rehabilitation, trauma healing, and sustainable community development.RRGO\u2019s ongoing efforts reflect a deep commitment to both local and global community building, resilience, and healing, underscoring the shared values between Rwanda and Michigan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The collaboration between RRGO and the University of Michigan-Dearborn represents a powerful step toward healing and growth for both Rwanda and the Detroit community.
